KUCHING:  The State Health Department has declared the emergence of two new Covid-19 community clusters today (August 24).

Sarawak Disaster Management Committee (SDMC) in a statement said that the community clusters are in Selangau and Serian districts.

On the Nanga Pelugau Cluster in Selangau, the committee said the community cluster was detected involving a longhouse located at Nanga Pelugau.

A total of 59 individuals were screened in which 24 including the case index were confirmed positive (20 Malaysians and four foreigners) and 35 tested negative.

All positive cases were admitted to Sibu Hospital and low-risk treatment and quarantine centre (PKRC) in Sibu district. 

The Plaman Bantang Cluster in Serian is a community cluster detected involving residents at a village in Kampung Plaman Batang, Jalan Mentung-Sangai.

A total of 95 individuals were screened in which 53 including the case index were confirmed positive and 42 were negative.

All positive cases were admitted to Sarawak General Hospital (SGH), Covid-19 Assessment Centre (CAC) Serian, PKRC in Serian and Samarahan.

At the same time, the State Health Department announced that the Lempaong Cluster in Betong has ended after no new cases were detected or reported in the past 28 days involving the cluster.

The committee also disclosed that 13 locations will be undergoing the enhanced movement control order (EMCO).

The EMCO will be implemented from August 23 to September 5 for Uma Lesong, Sungai Asap in Belaga; rental room on top of Kedai Jireh Corner, Bintulu Sentral; Bumirim Sdn Bhd workers’ quarters, Rumah Roselind Suang, Batu 7, Jalan Bintulu-Miri and Rumah Jaraw Sumok Sg Plan in Bintulu while Kem Tower 157 & 158 / Base Camp (West Borneo Constructions Sdn Bhd / Euromatec Sdn Bhd) Jalan Hulu Engkamop in Pakan from August 23 to September 8.

Rumah Sambun, Nanga Kesit in Lubok Antu will undergo EMCO from August 24 to September 6, Rumah Gerinang, Sg Mador, Bintangor in Meradong from August 24 to September 9 while Kampung Rayu Iban in Lundu and Kampung Keniong Lama in Simunjan from August 25 to September 7.

Three locations in Serian namely Kampung Ensebang Plaie A and B, Kampung Plaman Batang, Kampung Tanah Mawang, Kampung Tanah Mawang A and B will undergo EMCO from August 26 to September 8.

The EMCO has been extended for Rumah Sering, Bangkong, Pantu in Sri Aman from August 24 to 30 and Kampung Bunga in Serian from September 1 to 14.

Moreover, the EMCO was lifted at 14 locations on August 24 namely Rumah Paberi Megalit, Sungai Menok, Lapok Tinjar in Beluru; Rumah Degum anak Usit, Nanga Puti, Kakus in Tatau; Rh Kepalin Omar, KM58 Jalan Bintulu-Miri (Simpang Bakun) and Wahon Glass and Aluminium workers’ quarters as well as Kemena Industrial Estate in Bintulu.

In Sri Aman, Rumah Mara, Gran C Stumbin; Rumah Joseph Enja, Kampung Bangkong Asal, Pantu; Rumah Laham, Bangkong, Pantu; Rumah Faizal, Engkeramut; Rumah Gunong, Samak Undop and Rumah Pilit, Kaong Ulu Undop.

In Serian, Kampung Raon Rimu; Kampung Paon Rimu Bakong and Kampung Sungai Lingsat Batu Kudi.
