DEBAK: Betong Rural Water Supply Department (JBALB) is urged to ensure no water supply disruption during the Gawai Dayak and Hari Raya Aidilfitri celebrations here this year.

Saribas assemblyman Mohammad Razi Sitam said the department should be committed to ending the water supply problem faced by residents in the area, especially since Gawai Dayak and Hari Raya Aidilfitri are just around the corner.

“As in previous years, villagers around Debak, Pusa and Spaoh have complained about the water disruption problem which make it difficult for them to prepare food, wash dishes, etc, during the festive seasons,” he said when met by reporters after a meeting with the tuai rumah and village heads here yesterday.

According to him, JBALB needs to find other alternatives if there is an inevitable water supply disruption.

“The festive season should be celebrated with joy and not collecting and transporting water in containers.

“If there is any disturbance during this festive season, I urge JBALB to resolve it promptly to facilitate the residents to celebrate the festival,” he stressed.

Razi also hoped that Sarawak Energy Berhad (SEB) would ensure continuous electricity supply in the Saribas area throughout the festive seasons.

At the event, he also contributed RM80,000 to the Gawai Raya programme and gave RM15,000 to Kelab Rando Debak.
