KUCHING: The Sarawak Health Department is constantly monitoring the need to upgrade health facilities in the state.
In stating this Deputy Minister for Public Health, Housing and Local Government (Public Health and Housing) Michael Tiang said the department had already upgraded the consultation room at Nanga Budu Health Clinic.
As for plans to upgrade the Nanga Atoi Health Clinic with quarters these will be proposed under the 13th Malaysia Plan, he said.
Tiang was replying to Krian assemblyman Friday Belik who had queried about the two clinics during the question and answer (Q&A) session in the assembly here Today.
“The department successfully upgraded the consultation room at Nanga Budu Health Clinic in 2021.
“The planning for the upgrading of Nanga Atoi Health Clinic to Type 6 Health Clinic with quarters will be proposed under RMK13,” Tiang said.
On improvements to current programmes, he said a medical officer has been stationed at the Nanga Budu Health Clinic and another medical officer stationed at Nanga Atoi Health Clinic in March and August 2022 respectively.
Tiang pointed out that these placements have helped in infectious and non-infectious disease screening programmes, community programmes and screening, follow-up treatment, referrals to specialist hospitals and medication lists.
In response to Belik’s two supplementary questions, Tiang stated that the average number of patients per day at the Nanga Budu health clinic is 19 and at the Nanga Atoi health clinic it is 13.
“Both clinics are classified as Type 7, which means they are serving fewer than 50 patients per day,” he added.
