Dep’t seeks public help to trace girl’s next-of-kin

KUCHING: The Social Welfare Department (SWD) here is seeking help from the public to track down the biological mother or next-of-kin of a girl who was born prematurely at the Sarawak General Hospital (SGH) on 11 February.

According to SWD officer, Norhayati Abdul Rahman, the girl’s mother, Rohainiza Musa was reported to have left the hospital on 16 February.

The department said on 30 March, the Children’s Court here had ordered the girl to be placed at Rumah Kanak-Kanak Toh Puan Hajah Norkiah pending a report of the child.

It is hoped that the co-operation from all could trace the girl’s mother or next-of-kin.
