KAPIT: Deputy Health Minister Dato Seri Hilmi Yahaya was here recently for a working visit. During the dinner held in his honour at the Multi-purpose Hall, Kapit Hospital Director Dr Hii King Ching hoped that the deputy Health Minister could look into some of the urgent needs of the hospital.
Dr Hi i adde d tha t Kapit Hospital should be equipped with functioning and upgraded general X-ray, CT scan, medical gas and oxygen piping with medical air plant, among others.
On the development of Kapit Hospital, Dr Hii said in their five year plan, the new clinical block in the Hospital Master Plan Phase 2 will cater for the increasing needs. Kapit Hospital, formerly known as Christ Hospital, was built by the Methodist Missionary in 1950 with 100 beds.
It was later handed over to the federal government in 1974 and renamed Hospital Kapit. In 1994, a new RM5 million four-storey block was built.
The new Hospital Master Plan includes construction of a fourstory clinical block for pharmacy, haemodialysis, specialist clinic, operation theatre, CSSU, paediat r ic ward, male ward, physiotherapy and occupational therapy and store.
The old block will be used for general administration and nursing administration, chess ward, maternity ward, female ward and Accident and Emergency Ward.
