KUCHING: Deputy Minister of Education, Innovation and Talent Development and Simanggang assemblyman Datuk Francis Harden Hollis has conducted a thorough inspection of key infrastructure projects in the constituency.

Commencing his tour in Sri Aman, Harden first assessed the progress of the Drainage System Upgrade at Rh John Elie, Kampung Sabu. This RM250,000 project, led by the Drainage and Irrigation Department (DID) of Sri Aman Division, aims to install 200 metres of concrete drainage and culvert systems.

“The construction is a direct response to the challenges of river overflow and is expected to protect the village residents’ properties effectively,” he said in a statement recently.

Following this, he visited the site of the future bridge over the Undop river at Kampung Beleti (Rh Kedeney), Sabu. This initiative, valued at RM4.2 million, is the first undertaken by the Sri Aman Development Agency (SADA) in collaboration with the Public Works Department (PWD) of the Sri Aman Division.

With a timeline set from January 12, 2024, to January 11, 2025, the construction of the 70-metre-long and 4-metre-wide concrete bridge is anticipated to facilitate greater connectivity for the community.

During his site visits, Harden advocated for consistent progress monitoring to ensure the projects adhere to their scheduled timelines and quality standards, particularly the need for the early engagement and reliability of contracted parties.
