SIBU: Kolej Vokasional Sibu (KVS) has received a strong commitment of support from Michael Tiang Ming Tee.
The Sarawak Deputy Minister for Public Health, Housing and Local Government expressed his dedication by assuring regular inspections and providing grants such as Minor Rural Project (MRP) or Rural Transformation Programme (RTP) to the institution.
Tiang, who is also the Pelawan assemblyman, pointed out the vital role of KVS in the Sarawak government’s efforts to cultivate a larger skilled workforce, which is crucial for propelling Sarawak’s transition towards a digital economy.
“Hence, KVS needs to have the capability and infrastructure to educate our children to become local talents and skilled workforce, relevant to the local industries,” he said during his working visit to KVS on Friday (May 26).
“As both the deputy minister and the people’s representative, I am committed to supporting KVS and ensuring that the institution possesses the capabilities and facilities needed to cultivate local talents.”
Highlighting the need for investing in Sarawak’s human capital, Tiang emphasised his desire to play an integral role in contributing to the development of KVS, which falls under his constituency.
He expressed his dedication to helping Sarawak, particularly the state government, invest in “our own people, our human capital.”
During the visit, Tiang was accompanied by KVS director Jamali Muhamad and other officials.
