MIRI: Deputy Minister for Women, Childhood, and Community Development Datuk Rosey Yunus has urged students to seize the opportunities presented during the Project of Dreams Realized (PRO-DR) Roadshow organised by TEGAS.
The event, held in Niah, aims to provide students with valuable information for their future.
“This programme is vital for those of us outside the city as it has a high impact on our community,” Rosey said.
“I thank the organizers for choosing Niah for this face-to-face programme, giving our children the space to find information for their future,” she said.
Reflecting on the lack of similar opportunities in the past, she stressed the importance of being open to the world and preparing for it.
“When we are open to the world, we must get ready and start now – the right start from school, parents, and teachers. This is a diamond opportunity for you to create your future. Find the information, then go for it,” Rosey added.
She highlighted the abundance of job opportunities available but stressed the need for active involvement.
“If children do not involve themselves, they will be left behind. Our appreciation remains static if we don’t seize the opportunity. Education changes your life and social economy,” Rosey added.
Rosey also pointed out that the event provides information on opportunities, study locations, and financial aid, adding that by 2026, higher education in Sarawak-owned universities will be free for Sarawakians.
A total of 40 students from Sekolah Menengah Kebangsaan (SMK) Suai, SMK Subis, SMK Bekenu, and SMK Luar Bandar Miri attended the programme.
Also present was TEGAS Community Innovative Learning senior manager Fredick Kevin Buseli.
