KUCHING: Hope Place recently organised a visit to the struggling wife of a sick man and their three young children.
According to a statement from the charity organisation, Sakdah Madihi, 41, who lives at Mile 10, Jalan Kuching-Serian, struggles to take care of her family. Her husband suffers from multiple illnesses leaving her to handle everything.
Hope Place stated that the husband was a security guard until he was diagnosed with a severe lung infection, asthma, and other illnesses this year.
According to Sakdah, the family was already struggling to make ends meet even before her husband fell sick.
She is currently a part-time cleaner, collects and sells recycled items, collects wild edible plants, and also leftover food for her family.
Sometimes when she finds pieces of clothing in a rubbish bin, she would take it home for her children who has stopped going to school in 2020.
The family could not afford to have their children study online and when school reopened, Sakdah had no money for the kids.
Hope Place gives food to the family regularly. The children have also received pre-loved clothes.
Currently the family of five rents a small room above a coffee shop.
Hope Place is now calling for donations to help Sakdah and her family.
Donations or other contributions are most welcomed. Hope Place can be contacted at 082-505987 between 8 am and 5 pm Monday to Friday and 8 am to 12 on Saturday.
