KUCHING: A search and rescue (SAR) team’s unwavering spirit in the growing darkness finally paid off when they found their “quarry” about an hour later.
Gabriel Wayne Atos, 61, was with a team of 10 surveyors when he was discovered missing at about 4pm yesterday.
Police as well as Fire and Rescue Department were informed and a SAR operation was initiated.
The rescue team heard the victim shouting but the growing darkness was hampering their efforts to locate the missing man’s exact position.
The rescuers pressed on and finally came across the man at 7.37pm. He was already weak and whimpering, apparently already hoarse from shouting for help.
Firemen give Gabriel a piggy ride out of the jungle and later was rushed to the hospital for a check-up.
