MIRI: Local tour operators and those involved in tourism businesses are urged to develop attractive marketing plans to bring in tourists to Miri.
Tourism, Arts and Culture Assistant Minister Datuk Lee Kim Shin said marketing and promotion played crucial roles in attracting tourists to the city.
“I am aware they are struggling to bring in tourists but I believe with proper marketing strategies and promotion of tourism products, we can achieve the mission,” he said after witnessing a launching of promotional video by Borneo Tropical Rainforest Resort Miri yesterday.
He suggested that tour operators and other industry players in Miri package their tourism products and promote them to neighbouring countries such as Singapore and Brunei Darussalam besides China.
“I am optimistic it would be more effective to promote your products,” he said while suggesting they venture into digital tourism.
Also present were mayor Adam Yii, Miri Chinese Chamber of Commerce and Industry chairman Lee Khoi Yun and Borneo Tropical Rainforest Resort Miri’s pioneer Henry Law Ing Hua.
