SARIKEI: The potential of the youth should be developed so they can grow to be quality individuals and contribute back to society.

Urban Planning, Land Administration and Environment Assistant Minister Datuk Len Talif Salleh said that as the future leaders of the country, the younger generation have to equip themselves with the necessary knowledge and skills. At the same time, he said, they serve as catalysts for change and act as the link between resources in the context of continuous development.

“The Sarawak government does not ignore young people and provides opportunities for them to succeed,” he said at ‘Today for Tomorrow’ (T4T) Pertiwi programme at Dewan Perpaduan yesterday.

In a related development, Len Talif said the proactive move by the Sarawak government to build a new route from Sarikei to Tanjung Manis would benefit the people.

He said it would not only be convenient for the people to travel, but also make trading easier.

“In this regard, I urge the youth to seize opportunities provided by the government to improve themselves by venturing into business and entrepreneurship to compete with others out there,” he said.

The three-day programme was attended by 132 participants between the ages of 16 and 34.
