SIBU: The state government is committed to ensuring the development of the Sibu Jaya township, said Premier Datuk Patinggi Tan Sri Abang Johari Tun Openg.
“One of the ongoing projects is the construction of the 6.75 km Jalan Sibujaya –Jalan Kong Yit Khim road, expected to be completed in one year.
“With the completion of this road, Sibu Jaya will become a central hub providing services to the migrating community. It will be connected to Sarikei, Bintangor, Tanjung Manis, Daro and Igan, fostering economic development, including agriculture.
“So, this is our plan, and with our collective efforts, we can develop vital centres for our community’s progress. As previously mentioned, Sibu Jaya will see enhancements to its facilities, including the construction of this beautiful mosque,” he said.
Abang Johari said this in his speech when officiating at the Masjid Al-Madinah Al-Husna’s opening ceremony today (Mar 1).
He also said that many people from Peninsular Malaysia came to Sarawak because they were impressed by the new economic projects implemented by Sarawak.
“Sarawak is trying new economic ways and not the old economic ways anymore by focusing on digital knowledge, based on the economy of global warming, new energy, hydrogen, sunlight, and renewable energy,” he added.
Abang Johari hoped the younger generation would continue the development projects for the country.
Also present were Women, Childhood and Community Wellbeing Development Minister Datuk Seri Fatimah Abdullah, State Secretary Datuk Amar Mohamad Abu Bakar Marzuki, Deputy Minister for Utility and Telecommunication Datuk Dr Abdul Rahman Junaidi, Deputy Minister for Education, Innovation and Talent Development Datuk Dr Annuar Rapaee, Deputy Minister for Public Health, Housing and Local Government Datuk Michael Tiang Ming Tee and Sarawak Islamic Council president Datuk Misnu Taha.
