KUCHING: The water level of Sungai Sarawak at Malihah area has breached the danger level, reaching 7.42 metres as of 5.23 pm today (Feb 16).
The Department of Irrigation and Drainage (DID) issued the warning on its Public InfoBanjir website.
Earlier this morning, Taman Desa Wira, Batu Kawa, reached its danger level at 3.57 metres.
The Sarawak Civil Defence Force (APM) said that Kampung Sinar Budi in Desa Wira was flooded up to waist-deep levels, severing road connectivity to the area.
As of 10 am, an estimated 50 houses were affected by the flash floods.
Meanwhile, the water level in Tamin, Sibu, stood at 7.61 metres and had exceeded the warning levels.
According to DID, the water levels are expected to continue to rise.
However, water levels in Batu Kitang, Mile 8, and Samarahan are receding.
