SIBU: The Sibu marine police (PPM) seized four barrels of diesel worth RM81,704 and arrested a man yesterday morning.

According to Sibu PPM commander ACP Shamsol Kassim, the arrest took place in Jalan Salim at 7.15am.

A team of Sibu PPM personnel seized a Toyota Hilux pick-up carrying four barrels of diesel with an estimated total of 800 litres.

“The driver identified himself as a police officer when he was pulled over.

“However, he failed to produce any authorisation document from the Ministry of Domestic Trade and Consumer Affairs and is suspected of committing an offence under the Control of Supplies Act 1961.

“The team then brought the suspect, vehicle and diesel to Sibu PPM Technical Headquarters to be surrendered to the ministry’s enforcement officer,” said Shamsol.
