KUCHING: Yayasan Perpaduan Sarawak (YPS) Chief Executive Datuk Aloysius J. Dris said as a citizen, he would like to see the country go forward under the new Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim.
“I am confident that we can work together despite our dissimilar views and ideologies.
“These differences in fact could be our strengths since each party would bring distinct experiences, knowledge and ideas to the table – all for the benefit of the rakyat,” he said in a statement.
Aloysius pointed out that the country could take a leaf out of Sarawak’s experience as a model state of unity and harmony.
He said Sarawak has shown that diversity is indeed a strength.
“Celebrating diversity here is not merely confined to festivities and observances, but more importantly our forefathers and leaders have set the foundation for respect and acceptance towards each other through our interactions and communication.
“Of course, this did not happen overnight and it took decades. I believe that under the new prime minister and his leadership, we would together strive for Malaysia to be a model nation of unity and harmony whilst celebrating our differences,” he said.
“YPS and I would like to congratulate Anwar on his appointment as the 10th Prime Minister of Malaysia,” he added.
