KUCHING: With the power struggle issues surfacing in Parti Bangsa Malaysia (PBM) recently, Datuk Seri Abdul Karim Rahman Hamzah has described the party as ‘like a cartoon’.
The Parti Pesaka Bumiputera Bersatu (PBB) vice-president said lately the party seems to have issues over who should actually hold the president post.
“It’s like a cartoon already now, you know. One person said that he is the president, then one side said the other person should be president.
“They haven’t contested (in the election) yet, and they are already having confusion over the leadership.
“So, I don’t think they (PBM) can make any inroad (in Sarawak), it is very difficult,” he said.
He told reporters when asked about PBM’s performance in Sarawak this coming 15th General Election during the second day of the Kuching Jazz Festival 2022 at the open-air space in Grand Margherita Hotel on Saturday (Oct 29) night.
Abdul Karim, who is also the Asajaya assemblyman, said he thinks PBM supporters will also get disillusioned with this sort of leadership.
“I’m being very practical here now. Voters, before they vote, they will evaluate and look at what is the struggle of the party.
“If before the election is held, they (PBM) are already facing issues like this. How are you able to get votes? And how are you going to lead us?” he questioned.
On Oct 26, Julau incumbent Datuk Larry Sng insisted that he is the president of PBM and had never resigned and relinquished his party leadership.
Two days later, Sng announced that Datuk Zuraida Kamaruddin, who is said to be the designated president of PBM, has been suspended.
When asked about Parti Keadilan Rakyat’s (PKR) performance in Sarawak this GE15, Abdul Karim said the party might not fare well against its opponents.
“If we look at PKR performance in the last state election, I see they cannot make any inroad, especially in Sarawak.
“I’m not being arrogant here. They can’t make any inroad because they do not have a proper and do not have good leaders.
“Those who have contested several times but did not win. They (PKR) will die a slow death,” he said.
