KUCHING: Sarawak State Library in collaboration with Sarawak Multimedia Authority (SMA), Start-up Malaysia, International Youth Centre (IYC), Ministry of Local Government and Housing (MLGH), and Perpustakaan Negara Malaysia (PNM) will hold the Digital Inclusivity Programme 2020 (Go Digital ASEAN, Reading Seeds, PANDei) simultaneously throughout the state.

The programme will be held in two phases with the first phase taking place from Nov 1 to 6 in Sarawak Central and North Zones while the second phase will begin on Nov 16 until 21 in South, Central and North Zones. Both phases will start from 8.30am until 4.30pm.

The programme aimed to implement Reading Seeds, PANDei and Go Digital ASEAN programmes simultaneously to achieve the target distribution of Reading Seeds kits to 8,000 beneficiaries, 24,440 PANDei programme participants and 1,500 ASEAN Go Digital participants this year.

Go Digital ASEAN targets at least 1,500 youths and will be implemented in 21 Digital Community Centres under the supervision of the Sarawak State Library and the MLGH as well as 38 rural libraries under PNM.

The training content of this e-Learning module is a continuation of PANDei e-Learning (www.openlearning.com/pustakasarawak/) offered for free by Sarawak State Library.

The Go Digital ASEAN Project modules (Job Seeker Module, Existing Entrepreneur Module and Prospective Entrepreneur Module) are now accessible for free online at https://www.godigital.my/

Meanwhile, the Reading Seeds programme is provided to help parents or guardians as reading partners while the fetus is still in the womb until the age of three.

The module is divided into 12 parts where the first part begins with a reading guide while the baby is still in the womb and the next 11 parts according to age breakdown in line with the developmental stage (Malaysian Paediatric Protocols, 4th Edition) and the pre-literacy development of the child (Iowa Department of Education 8/2011).

Lastly, the PANDei programme is an effort by the state government to improve the digital literacy among Sarawakians, especially the rural population.

Sarawak State Library as the coordinator had held ‘Training of Trainers’ (ToT) workshops of PANDei (People Accessible Network for Digital Empowerment and Inclusivity) to all public and rural libraries as well as Digital Community Centres (DCC) across Sarawak.
