MIRI: A 40-year-old man sustained body injuries after he was beaten up by a group of 11 men near a restaurant at Jalan Maju here at 3am yesterday.
It was believed that the incident happened over a misunderstanding. After the man had finished eating he had forgotten to pay for his meal because his friends at a karaoke lounge nearby were calling him to join them for a drink.
The restaurant workers had though that the man had intentionally left the restaurant without paying for his meal. They then chased and beat him up with some using chairs. Fortunately, the man managed to flee the scene and ran to a police station to lodge a report.
