KUCHING: Restaurants, eateries, bistros, cafes and food and beverages stalls across the state are still not allowed to provide dine-in services during the extended conditional movement control order (CMCO) period until June 7.
Under the latest standard operating procedures (SOPs) released by the National Security Council on May 17, only take-aways, drive-throughs and deliveries are permitted from 6 am to 10 pm.
Food delivery service providers are allowed to operate.
Allowed to open also are petrol stations, supermarkets, hypermarkets, shopping malls, retail stores, hardware stores, convenience stores, laundries and other permitted store premises.
Owners or operators of these premises, however, are required to control the number of visitors entering as stated in the health protocol to ensure that physical distancing can be implemented.
In addition, markets, wholesale markets, farmers markets and night markets (uptown, downtown and the like) are allowed to operate with the supervision of the authorities and People’s Volunteer Corps (Rela) and local council personnel.
Social ceremonies like weddings, engagements, receptions, aqiqah ceremonies, prayer ceremonies, birthdays, reunions and retreats are prohibited.
Night clubs, pubs, cinemas, karaoke centres, spas, reflexology and massage centres will still remain closed during the CMCO.
The gathering of individuals or groups of more than five people in public areas and activities that make physical distancing difficult to enforce are also not allowed.
Prohibited activities include physical meetings in hotels, seminars, workshops, courses, activities, conferences, talks, corporate events as well as MICE (meeting, incentives, conventions and exhibitions).
Ongoing in-service training can only be done in the training institutions.
For the tourism sector, public tourist attraction products such as zoos, farms, aquariums, edutainment centres, recreational parks, extreme/adventure/nature parks, museums, libraries, art galleries, cultural heritage art centre or villages, cultural performance stages, theme parks, and family entertainment centres are not allowed to open.
Mass activities that involve the movements and groupings of many that make physical distance difficult to impose at one time such as fun runs, fun rides, marathons, triathlons and so on will not be allowed as well.
