SIBU: The service centre of the local Member of Parliament will host a ‘Jualan Rahmah’ programme, offering 1,000 food baskets this Saturday (Oct 26) at the Medan Departmental Store in Unicity, Jalan Wawasan.

Oscar Ling Chai Yew announced that the event will kick off at 11:30 am and run until 2:30 pm.

“As per our tradition, we provide a discount exceeding 30 per cent on each food basket we have assembled. While the usual price is RM45, the public can avail of them for only RM30. Sales will operate on a ‘first come, first served’ basis until stocks last.

“This program takes place monthly at varying locations, aiming to alleviate the cost of living pressures faced by medium to lower income brackets. It was instigated by the Madani government.

“The positive response from the public in the past has not only been encouraging but has also furnished me with a platform to engage with the community,” he expressed.

In a recent event, the “Jualan Kombo Madani” organized by the service centre at the parking lot in front of SJKC Thian Chin in the Permai residential area witnessed an overwhelming turnout.

Ling disclosed that 200 “Jualan Kombo Madani” packages were swiftly sold out in approximately 20 minutes.

Each “Jualan Kombo Madani” package, priced at RM10, comprises two kilogrammes of white rice, white sugar, flour, packaged oil, instant noodles, and garlic.

“This initiative, designed to be accessible to the public, targets rural and residential areas, aiming to alleviate the financial strain on the populace,” Ling elaborated.
