KUCHING: A former policeman suffering from chronic ailments including heart disease and diabetes received some much-needed assistance from Bandar Kuching MP Dr Kelvin Yii today.

Due to complications, the man has had one foot and several toes on the other amputated.

“He is now going for follow-up with the hospital for his medical conditions, thus his financial commitments are not just on medical bills but also transportation,” said Dr Yii.

“The daily expenses have been tough on the family.”

Dr Yii stated that the former policeman of more than 30 years service is receiving pension but it is not enough to cover the family’s expenses.

“After learning about his experience, I paid him a visit and handed over some assistance to the family for their daily and medical expenses.

“It may not be much, but we hope it can relieve some of their burdens,” he said.
