BAU: The newly completed Bau District Office Complex, which will begin operation this Monday, would be an added tourist attraction.
Deputy Minister of Transport (Riverine and Marine) Datuk Henry Harry Jinep said the complex, which costs around RM4.58 million, will be a new landmark for the Bau District.
He said the new and uniquely designed roof of the complex will be officiated in the near future.
“This office has three floors and is fully operational. In the building, there is a courtroom and also offices available for community leaders.
“We also have a meeting room that would accommodate 120 people at a time. This office can also be used as an operations room for flood emergencies,” he said in a press conference at the complex yesterday (July 7).
Adding on, he expressed his satisfaction with the construction of the complex despite facing several hiccups caused by the COVID-19 pandemic, including delays in building materials and labour shortages.
Meanwhile, Henry, who is also the Tasik Biru assemblyman, said the complex will undergo a second phase of construction to include facilities such as elevators and additional parking spaces, and its implementation will cost approximately RM500,000, which will benefit the residents of the Bau District as well as other visitors.
He added that a shortcut road leading to Tasik Biru will be constructed to cater for the growing population of Bau and avoid traffic congestion.
“This means that if you want to go to Tasik Biru, you can park your car in the outside area (of the complex) and walk to Tasik Biru so that it is not crowded,” he said.
