KUCHING: To facilitate the state’s Covid-19 immunisation programme, all Divisional Disaster Management Committees (DDMCs) are actively planning and coordinating the vaccination programme for each division to ensure it is run smoothly.

State Health Department (JKNS) director Dr Chin Zin Hing said this involved the registration of people eligible for the Covid-19 vaccine and the setting up of mass vaccination centres in addition to the existing ones at health facilities.

“The DDMCs also plan and coordinate the manpower and logistic support for the programme,” he said when contacted today.

He added that Sarawak is also intensifying the dissemination of correct information to the public on the vaccination.

“Sarawak has targeted to complete the vaccination of all eligible persons in the state by August this year,” he said.

Dr Chin said Phase 1 of the programme had been carried out fairly smoothly thus far.

Sarawak commenced its Covid-19 immunisation programme on Feb 26, focusing on the frontliners first.
