KUCHING: Datuk Richard Wee urged unvaccinated individuals to seriously consider getting themselves inoculated for their personal health and safety consideration.
The Sarawak Federation of Chinese Associations president pointed out that other countries are encouraging their own citizens to be vaccinated.
“Hence, I sincerely advise those who have not been vaccinated to come forward to join the majority of the people for the sake of their health and safety, as well as for their families and the community as a whole.
“The respective community leaders and people’s representatives should play their part in communicating with their constituents and their community to encourage them to join the vaccination programme,” he said.
In the meantime, he also urged the business community to cooperate with the government in adhering and strictly enforce the implementation of the standard operating procedures (SOPs).
“In addition to that, I hope that the government will be more flexible on the choices of vaccine for those who want to get jabbed.
“This is because many would prefer to choose their vaccine if there are sufficient supplies available,” he said.
Recently, the Health Ministry had decided to track down people who refused to get themselves vaccinated against Covid-19 instead of waiting for them to turn up at vaccination centres (PPV).
Its minister Khairy Jamaluddin said the country has reached a point where the supply of Covid-19 vaccines exceeded the number of recipients waiting to get vaccinated.
