MIRI: A prayer ceremony (majlis doa selamat) in conjunction with the placement of the Sarawak Coastguard Interceptor was held at the Miri Port Authority Crew Change Terminal, yesterday.

According to a press statement, the ceremony was held in conjunction with the commissioning of the Sarawak Coastguard Interceptor boat, which will be tasked with upgrading security control in the waters of the northern ZONE of Sarawak.

“These assets will be assigned to enforce State laws on the coast and rivers of Sarawak, search and rescue operations, security control in official water events and assist in the assignment of security agencies.

“The placement of these assets is an initiative of the Sarawak government which is very significant in terms of improving coastal security control and preserving the environment in line with the Post COVID-19 Development Strategy (PCDS) 2030,” it said.
