MIRI: Time to bleed for a good cause. The Northern Sarawak Journalists Association (NSJA) is organising a blood donation drive on New Year’s Day (Jan 1).
According to a NSJA statement, the drive which will be held from 9.30 am to 1 pm at the 1st Floor New Wing, Bintang Megamall Miri is a joint effort with Shun Shen Lee Trading (Miri) Sdn Bhd and sponsors The Twin Brothers Patisserie, Miri City Council and Bintang Megamall, and in collaboration with the Miri Hospital Blood Bank and Miri Hospital.
Blood donors will each receive a packet of 5kg rice packets, buns, and a limited 2024 edition calendar while stock lasts.
“The campaign is our initiative to raise public awareness on the importance of donating blood and that replenishing the blood stock is a voluntary effort that the public could do to help others.
“For the record, the Miri Blood Bank needs a stable stock of blood of various types for emergencies, particularly during festive seasons and we are happy that we are contributing to the noble cause,” NSJA said, adding that donors may walk in to the venue on that day to register themselves and donate their blood.
