KUCHING: The freedom to travel interstate is a source of relief to many people, particularly those who have not visited their hometown in a long time.
Assistant Minister in the Chief Minister’s Department (Islamic Affairs & DBKU) Datuk Dr Abdul Rahman Junaidi said however, every individual must strictly adhere to the standard operating procedures (SOPs) set by the government to prevent Covid-19 transmission.
“The Sarawak government will definitely open the state’s borders gradually to help boost the economy and tourism sectors,” he said when contacted yesterday (Oct 11).
In the meantime, he also suggested that the Sarawak Disaster Management Committee (SDMC) relax the travel SOPs as the vaccination rate in Sarawak is relatively high.
“Every layer of society that will cross the state is advised to always abide by the instructions set by the government.
“Let us not be complacent as the existing rules are still in force, and those who violate them will still face punishment.”
