BAU: Youths here have been encouraged to not limit themselves but instead explore more possibilities to learn about cultural differences and be inclusive of other races.
According to Kota Sentosa assemblyman Wilfred Yap Yau Sin, youth leadership training is also important because it develops key leadership capabilities and accelerates impacts as youth leaders.
“This would assist the state to become developed status by 2030, with a high-income economy under the progressive leadership of the Premier Datuk Patinggi Tan Sri Abang Johari Tun Openg.
“It is timely to focus on leadership training for our youths. In today’s context of Sarawak’s push for a digital, green, and sustainable economy, youth leadership is more important than ever,” he said when launching the opening ceremony of Youth Leadership Camp at Libiki Bamboo Resort here today (May 6).
Furthermore, Yap also encouraged the youths to continue to persevere and pursue their passion.
“I hope that the youth participants from this leadership camp will develop a deeper understanding of leadership style, traits, and values.
“By doing so, it would discover mindful leadership by building resilience and adaptability to change, developing team dynamics, and building high-performing teams to achieve set goals,” he said.
He added that with youth able to build high-performing teams, it would maximise their potential to make a profound and sustainable impact with the objective of contributing to Sarawak’s development and progress.
Following that, during the event, Yap donated RM3,000 to the Youth Leadership Camp for its activities, where around 40 participants took part in the two-day event (May 6–7).
Also present were Temenggong Datuk Tan Joo Phoi and Datuk Kiung Choi Hin.
