KUCHING: Sarawak Rugby Union (SRU) patron Tan Sri Datuk Amar Mohamad Morshidi Abdul Ghani has called for the preservation of the historic Song Kheng Hai Rugby Field.

“The Song Kheng Hai Rugby Field is more than just a field; it’s a symbol of our community’s history and spirit,” Morshidi said when officiating at the Song Kheng Hai Sevens 3rd Edition today (Oct 26).

“This field has been a part of Kuching since the British colonial era.

He drew parallels to European and Hong Kong cities, where rugby and football fields are integrated into the urban fabric.

“This field is steeped in history and must be preserved as such.

“I hope we can continue to maintain this field under the name of Song Kheng Hai Rugby Field,” he added.
