BETONG: Four longhouses in this district are currently under lockdown after recording seven more Covid-19 cases on Monday.

The longhouses are Rumah Enteban; Rumah Tanjong, Skrang; Rumah Pais and Rumah Pematoh.

Layar assemblyman Gerald Rentap Jabu said the lockdown was necessary to curb the spread of Covid-19 following positive cases reported in the area.

“Swab tests were done on all residents of the four longhouses. The Betong Divisional Health Office team also conducted active case detection in the areas.

“However, I wish to ask the rest of the Betong community to not panic. If anyone has symptoms or has visited the longhouses mentioned or met with the residents recently, please come forward and undergo a swab test so that we can work together to stop the spread,” he said in a Facebook post today.

He also said those who wish to make enquiries can contact the Betong Division Health Office at 083-472116.

“Everyone’s cooperation is needed to ensure success in breaking the chain of Covid-19 apart from protecting our loved ones.

“Please continue to adhere to the standard operating procedures such as wearing face masks, washing hands frequently, avoiding crowded places and staying at home.

“Apart from that, remember to take a bath straight after you return home and stay hydrated,” he said.
