KUCHING: Sarawakians are advised not to travel to Kuching district, a Covid-19 red zone, while Kuchingites are also advised not to travel outside the district within these two weeks.

Deputy Chief Minister, Datuk Amar Douglas Uggah Embas gave this advice during a press conference on the State Disaster Management Committee (SDMC) Covid-19 update at the Old State Legislative Assembly (DUN) Building here on Monday (Nov 2).

“Due to the rising cases in Kuching, the people are advised to take-away or use delivery services for their food instead of dining in.

“All employers and heads of departments are encouraged to allow their employees to work from home these two weeks from now until the latest directive is issued,” Uggah said.

Kuching is the only district still declared as a red zone in the state while Lundu, Miri and Limbang are yellow zones and the other 36 districts are green zones.

Uggah, who is chairman of SDMC, also thanked all those who had donated to the villagers of Kampung Haji Baki which had been placed under the enhanced movement control order (EMCO).

He said if non-governmental organisations (NGOs) as well as individuals wanted to contribute to the villagers, they must contact the Kuching Resident office to get its approval first.

“This is also to verify the validity of the donation collectors and ensure the distribution of donations in an orderly manner,” he explained.

Uggah also warned the public against donor fraud tactics.
