SIMANGGANG: A dotting of the lion’s eyes ceremony was held to mark the resumption of the Chinese New Year celebration in a big way here following muted observations during the Covid-19 pandemic years.

Deputy Minister of Talent Development Datuk Francis Harden Hollis and his wife Datin Simba Nalang attended the pre-CNY celebration on Saturday.

The eye-dotting ceremony was held at the Kong Teck Choon Ong Temple at Pasar Sabu.

“We are thankful that the pre-celebration this time was more lively after the country passed the transition phase to the endemic stage,” said Kapitan Chin Chong Miaw.

In the evening, the pre-welcome activities continued with a dinner held by the Association of Community Leaders and Tribe Leaders (KMKK), Sri Aman Chinese Division at Wisma Ngu Hung Wu.

At the event, Harden announced the allocation of RM20,000 under the Minor Rural Projects (MRP) 2023 to the Sri Aman Division Chinese KMKK Association, in addition to RM5,000 from Sri Aman Member of Parliament Datuk Seri Doris Sophia Brodi.
