THE team from SMK Bandar Kuching No. 1 emerged as winners in the statelevel Digital Story telling Animation Competition, which won them a place in the National competition.

JOHAN Wong Wei Siang (right) and Elvin Anak Mackarther (centre) obtained 4 golds and 1 silver each while Ethelbert Howell Liew Anak Louis bagged 5 silvers in the recently held 27th Sarawak Wushu Championship.

SMK Bandar Kuching No. 1 has done it again. Two Townians brought glory to the school when they emerged as one of the top winners in the 2018 Digital Story telling Animation Competition recently. Emerging as the Champion in the state level, they had a chance to represent Sarawak in the national level presenting an animation with the title “101 ways to be Patriotic”.

Both Justin Chieng Zen Yue and Nicholas Lee Eon Shen efforts finally paid off when they managed to obtain the second spot in the national level. The competition has been in the running for the past five years with the aims to expose students in creating animations with the use of technology and nurturing students in this field.

Meanwhile, in the arena of wushu, in the prestigious 27th Sarawak Wushu Championship held at SJK Chung Hua No. 4 in Kuching recently, three of the representatives from the school had managed to amass 52 points collectively securing the third place in the secondary school category.

Johan Wong Wei Siang and Elvin Anak Mackarther obtained 4 golds and 1 silver each while Ethelbert Howell Liew Anak Louis bagged 5 silvers. Together they had done the school proud. They contributed to make Kuching the overall champion with 186 golds, 85 silvers and 24 bronze. It is indeed a celebration for the school. Once again they have lived up to the school motto, “Together We Strive For Excellence”.
