BAU: A house at Kampung Padang Pan, Jalan Gumbang was destroyed by fire yesterday.
Bau Fire Station chief Tawang Linggem said nine firefighters were despatched to the scene after it was reported that a double-storey semi-permanent house had caught fire at 11.35am.
The firefighters conducted their operation with a relay pumping method using water from the nearby river as their additional source.
“No injuries were reported, but there was extensive damage to 70 per cent of the house,” he said in a statement yesterday.
He added that during the operation, firefighters found cash amounting to RM400 and handed it over to the police.
The cause of the fire is still under investigation.
