LIMBANG: A total of 178 individuals had to be evacuated to a temporary relief centre (PPS) after their homes were inundated by floods.
The Sarawak Disaster Management Committee (SDMC) reports that the victims are from Kampung Baru, Medamit.
In order to provide shelter for the victims, the Medamit Community Hall PPS was opened at 4.30 pm yesterday (Sept 20).
The victims from 61 families were evacuated to the relief centre by Fire and Rescue Department (Bomba), the Civil Defence Force (APM) and the police.
Also at the centre to provide medical and welfare services were the Ministry of Health and the Social Welfare Department.
Earlier, it was reported that several areas in Limbang were flooded due to continuous downpour.
