SIBU: Sarawak has become a region envied by all Malaysians, says Datuk Dr Annuar Rapaee.

According to the Parti Pesaka Bumiputera Bersatu (PBB) vice- president, the word ‘envy’ or ‘jealousy’ has various meanings.

He explained that envy could have both positive and negative connotations, but when people are envious, it signifies that one’s status or level has risen.

“It is unlikely for people to be envious of someone who is average, lacks capability, or has minimal achievements. People only become envious of those with greater accomplishments.

“This means that we in Sarawak are regarded highly by all Malaysians, whether in terms of education or the economy,” he added.

He said this in his welcoming speech at the Program Ramah Mesra Malam Pergerakan Wanita PBB Zone Tengah Sarawak at the Islamic Complex here, Sunday night (June 30).

Meanwhile, on the PBB women’s wing, the Deputy Minister for Education, Innovation and Talent Development stressed on the significant role women’s wings play in the political arena.

“A political party cannot move smoothly, actively, and most importantly, cannot achieve success without the women’s wing.

“I am not just praising women, but I have personally experienced their dedication when I was chosen as a candidate in 2011. These women worked tirelessly during the election, going from house to house with me,” Dr Annuar said.

The Nangka assemblyman expressed his gratitude to the PBB women’s wing and hoped that the unity within PBB members will always be maintained to ensure continuous and comprehensive success, allowing Sarawak to continue thriving in the future.

Also present were PBB Women chief Datuk Seri Fatimah Abdullah, who is also the Minister for Women, Childhood and Community Wellbeing Development; and Lingga assemblywoman Dayang Noorazah Awang Sohor.
