KUCHING: Parti Pesaka Bumiputera Bersatu (PBB) Demak Laut Branch chief Dr Hazland Abang Hipni has vowed to deliver his best not only for his constituency but for Sarawak.
He said this after obtaining the highest number of votes in the election of Supreme Council members for the Bumiputera Wing.
Dr Hazland, who is also Deputy Minister for Energy and Environmental Sustainability garnered 867 votes, making him the top of the list in the race for 16 posts.
“I want to thank all the delegates from the 82 divisions as well as the Supreme Council members for giving me the strong support.
“This gives me the spirit and encouragement to continue all the services and struggles for Sarawak,” he said in a press conference during the last day of the party’s Triennial General Meeting (TGM) at Borneo Convention Centre Kuching (BCCK) on Today (June 19).
He said he will continue focusing on the three areas namely in the social aspect, economy and politics.
“For politics, we know that PBB is one of the largest and strongest political parties in Sarawak and Malaysia. Hence, we must continue the political struggle to ensure PBB is the backbone of Sarawak’s politics,” he said.
In terms of the economy, he said more has to be done to improve the people’s economy, both in the urban and rural areas.
“Apart from that, we have many challenges to tackle in terms of the social aspect. This includes increasing the level of education in Sarawak, and PBB will do its best to provide assistance to improve the standard of education as well to curb social ills,” he pointed out.
In addition, he said as Sarawak is now in the eyes of the world, it is therefore important to produce quality human capital with high education.
“This is a challenge for me, I must also make sure that my service is also tip top,” said Dr Hazland.
