KUCHING: The idea of developing a cable car network, connecting villages within the Padawan highlands, is interesting, Datuk Dr Jerip Susil believes.
The Sarawak Deputy Minister for Transport said this was a suggestion from residents. “One of the reasons being it could make their daily travel much easier than before.”
He added that the cable car network would connect a few high-altitude villages such as Kg Sapit, Kg Kiding and Kg Simuti.
“…then the cable car will return to the starting point, which is the Anna Rais longhouse.”
Dr Jerip told the media this after the launch of the Mini Lab Mambong constituency for Greater Kuching Development Coordinated Agency (GKDCA) here on Tuesday (Dec 13).
He pointed out that this suggestion from the residents showed that they yearned for modern transportation facilities.
At the press conference was Puncak Borneo MP Datuk Willie Mongin and GKDCA chief executive officer Datuk Ik Pahon Joyik.
