BINTULU: Deputy Premier Datuk Amar Dr Sim Hui Kian, accompanied by his wife Datin Enn Ong Siok Ean, conducted a series of Chinese New Year (CNY) visits to the residences of various Chinese community leaders, businesspersons, and members of the Sarawak United Peoples’ Party (SUPP) Bintulu Branch.
The visits on Thursday (Feb 15) included stops at the homes of Kong Chioung Ung, president of the Sarawak Chinese Chamber of Commerce and Industry and the Chinese Chamber of Commerce and Industry Bintulu in Taman Tinggi, and Penghulu Chai Siong Pian in Lucky Garden, Jalan Tanjung Batu.
Later in the day, Dr Sim, who is also the Minister for Public Health, Housing and Local Government, along with his wife, continued their CNY visits to the residence of Chin Chee Fui, president of the Registered Chinese Associations Bintulu Division, in Pearl Garden, Jalan Sibiyu.
The visits concluded at the residence of Datuk Dr Wong Aik Loung, honorary secretary of the Federation of Chinese Associations Malaysia, in Taman Bintulu, Jalan Tanjung Batu, and the home of Tanjong Batu assemblyman Johnny Pang Leong Ming, who is also the Bintulu SUPP chairman, in Good Park, Jalan Tanjung Batu.
Earlier in the morning, Dr Sim joined Premier Datuk Patinggi Tan Sri Abang Johari Tun Openg at the Bintulu SUPP CNY open house held at Dinner World Bintulu Restaurant.
The event, in its second year, drew approximately 2,500 multi-ethnic and culturally diverse attendees.
