KUCHING: The Federation of Sarawak Journalists Association (FSJA) has invited Deputy Premier Dr Sim Kui Hian to attend the Kenyalang Journalism Awards (KJA) 2022 function.
Led by president Andy Jong Wan Joon, the association paid a courtesy call on Dr Sim at Wisma Bapa Malaysia here recently to hand over the invitation letter to attend the function on Dec 9.
Dr Sim who is also the Public Health, Housing and Local Government Minister continues to support the event this year and has contributed to the success of the annual award.
Jong said that Dr Sim has contributed to the prestigious award event every year.
Accompanying Jong were FSJA secretary Michelle Choo Lee Nyuk, treasurer Chai Chon Chin and committee member Esther Ching Heng Sing.
About RM250,000 in cash prizes will be given away this year.
FSJA in a statement said the Sarawak government has been the main sponsor of the organisation since 2015, in addition to the gold sponsors namely Shell, Petronas and Sarawak Energy Berhad (SEB), which contributed RM50,000 respectively.
Premier Datuk Patinggi Abang Johari Tun Openg is the guest of honour and will present the Sarawak Premier Award.
Entries for the award are now open to articles published in print and electronic media from Sept 1, 2021 to Aug 31, 2022.
The closing date is Sept 9. Each participant can submit a maximum of four entries, individually or as a group.
