KUCHING: Deputy Premier Datuk Seri Dr Sim Kui Hian had fruitful exchanges with Roche Malaysia senior management team on Tuesday (April 26).
“I have extended an invitation to Roche which is a Swiss pharmaceutical and diagnostic multinational company to explore the possibility of drug research in Sarawak.
“This includes more Phase 1 clinical trials and even have their diagnostic arm to consider Sarawak as part of their partnerships, given our proven track record like those of Sarawak Heart Centre (SHC) which is the most active cardiac trial site in the country if not the region.
“There are 20 years of digital images and data which many did not even realise that we did with Pentium 3 in 2000 of all places here in the jungles of Borneo,” he said.
The Minister of Public Health, Local Government, and Housing said he had known Roche for a while as he had the privilege and honour to collaborate with them since he returned from Australia in 1998.
“Sarawak must be seen as an added-value site beyond just a market for the sales of latest drugs,” he added.
