KUCHING: Deputy Premier Datuk Amar Dr Sim Kui Hian has appealed to Sarawakians residing abroad to return and contribute to the state’s development.
He said Sarawakians should leverage their expertise in various fields upon their return, especially during the Chinese New Year festivities, as opportunities for contribution abound.
“I have done my part and I have played my role in developing Sarawak.
“If I did not come back to Sarawak 23 years ago from Australia, I do not think we would have the Sarawak Heart Centre, so please come back and contribute to the state,” he said in his speech during the media gathering at Borneo Convention Centre Kuching (BCCK) yesterday (Feb 7).
Meanwhile, Dr Sim highlighted the role of the media in disseminating crucial information, particularly as Sarawak progresses towards its nation-building objectives.
“As you may know, the state government will provide free education for Sarawakians by 2026, and I came to find out that not many Sarawakians are aware of this.
“I hope the media will continue to convey this information to the public as Sarawak is now entering its nation building phase,” he added.
Also present at the media event was Padawan Municipal Council (MPP) chairman Tan Kai and Batu Kitang assemblyman Datuk Lo Khere Chiang.
