Dr Sim: Safety culture in housing ministry to continue

KUCHING: The State Housing Ministry will continue to ensure that the safety aspect is always embedded as a culture, assured its Minister Datuk Professor Dr Sim Kui Hian.

“Right from the construction sites, up to the design features of the houses, the aspect of safety must never be compromised,” he said when receiving a courtesy visit by Chairman of National Institute of Occupational Safety and Health (NIOSH), Tan Sri Lee Lam Thye at his residence, recently.

Dr Sim added that he was quite surprise with his additional appointment as Minister of Housing. Nonetheless, he was grateful towards the trust given by Chief Minister Datuk Amar Abang Haji Johari Tun Openg and pledged that he would deliver his utmost best to ensure the rakyat benefit from the government’s housing policy.

In response, Tan Sri Lee expressed his satisfaction of such a positive stance on the part of the government which augured well towards the safety of the public at large.

During the visit, Tan Sri Lee also presented his book entitled “Advocating OSH For All” to Datuk Dr Sim.

Tan Sri Lee was accompanied by officials from Trac-Wheels (M) Sdn Bhd, TM TEC Academy Sdn Bhd and ForHiL Sdn Bhd during the visit.

Among those in the group were Richard Song Swee Jin (managing director of Trac-Wheels and TM TEC Academy), Philip Ho Kian Sin (executive director of ForHiL Sdn Bhd), Lawrence Lee Chin Fook (director of TM TEC Academy) and Mdm Andrea Chin Kui Siam (associate trainer TM TEC Academy).
