KUCHING: The Sarawak government will continue to channel aid to Chinese national schools, assures Deputy Premier Datuk Seri Dr Sim Kui Hian.

In fact, the number of special grants had increased every year since this was implemented in 2015 during the tenure of former chief minister, the late Pehin Sri Adenan Satem, he said.

“Since Tok Nan’s leadership in 2015, Chinese national-type secondary schools had received RM3mil in funding and now this amounted to RM10mil every year.

“Not only funds, now under Premier Datuk Patinggi Tan Sri Abang Johari Tun Openg, we are giving land so that we can generate income.”

Dr Sim said this at the RM1mil grant presentation ceremony at SJK Chung Hua Batu 11, Matang.

According to him, fund financing was carried out systematically through the established board.

The distribution of funds was made to the organisation after it was proposed to Abang Johari in 2020 which was used to develop schools, run various educational programmes.

“Thus starting the first year we have RM8mil, last year RM10mil and this year RM12mil.

“School reconstruction is now based on cash flow instead of lump sum, so the government can start in many schools.”
