KUCHING: Batu Kawa assemblyman Datuk Seri Dr Sim Kui Hian has successfully secured a total of RM363,226,141 in funding from 2016 to 2022 for the development of his constituency.
According to a press release, last year alone, Dr Sim obtained RM55,996,291, while from 2016 to 2021, he received RM307,229,850. He has kept his promise to actively seek grants to promote the development of his constituency since he was elected as assemblyman in 2016.
Dr Sim has applied for grants from various sources, including the Sarawak Government, federal government, and other government agencies.
He said all of these grants have been utilised for implementing different development projects and policies that prioritise the well-being of the people. Examples include upgrading gravel roads to sealed roads, installing street lighting, repairing houses, and providing electricity to rural areas.
In addition to the development plan, annual grants are also allocated to schools, temples, churches, mosques, neighbourhood committees, associations, and community organisations in Dr Sim’s constituency.
This year, Dr Sim has been granted an annual development grant of RM5 million, which will be used to fund 16 key development projects in the area including drainage upgrade at Batu Kawa road Lorong 1C, Stephen Yong Road Lorong 4, Stapok Utama Lorong 3, Ketitir Road Lorong 1B3, Taman Desa Wira Lorong 15A, RPR Batu Kawa Lorong 2, 3, 5, low-cost housing at Lorong 28 (28A6, 28A6A, 28A6D, 24A1A, 24A1B), and Lorong 26.
Furthermore, road upgrades are planned for the areas around Kampung Sinar Budi Lama and Batu Kawa’s Mosque. Additionally, the community hall in Taman Desa Wira Lorong 10A and the Batu Kawa Rehabilitation Centre will also undergo improvements.
