KUCHING: Sarawak United Peoples’ Party (SUPP) will cooperate with the Malaysian Anti Corruption Commission (MACC) following a report made on the party that it received RM1 million linked to 1Malaysia Development Berhad (1MDB).
The party’s president Datuk Dr Sim Kui Hian was responding to a report made by Parti Keadilan Rakyat (PKR) Stampin branch that SUPP in 2012 had received RM500,000 and another RM500,000 in 2013 from then Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Tun Razak.
“We will cooperate with MACC and respect the law,” Dr Sim told reporters after attending a Wesak Day celebration at Sarawak Buddhist Association here on Tuesday.
Dr Sim who is also Minister of Local Government and Housing said that the party believed MACC will do a good and thorough investigation.
PKR Stampin Branch Youth Chief, Jeffery Mok had lodged a report at MACC headquarters here last Monday.
In response to that, Dr Sim said since SUPP Youth chief Michael Tiang had already responded to the report made by Mok, he would not say much on the matter but to wait for a suitable time.
“In matters like this, I always remember the advice of former Chief Minister the late Datuk Patinggi Tan Sri Adenan Satem that we were given the mandate to govern and solve issues of the people, not to quarrel,” he said.
