SIBU: A dream to have a kindergarten block at Rumah Seliau in Ulu Oya will soon materialise for its residents.
The good news came after the application to build a kindergarten was approved by
Women, Early Childhood, and Community Wellbeing Development Minister Datuk Seri Fatimah Abdullah.
According to the Sarawak Public Communications Unit (UKAS) in a news report, Fatimah said the kindergarten is important for children in the area to have early childhood education.
Previously, the application to have a kindergarten at Rumah Seliau in Ulu Oya was submitted by Tamin assemblyman Christopher Gira Sambang, following a request from Ulu Oya residents.
Christopher expressed his gratitude to the ministry involved for giving the green light to have the kindergarten set up in the longhouse.
Accordingly, a cheque handover ceremony for the construction of the kindergarten was held at a hotel here recently.
At the ceremony, a sum of RM60,000 was handed over by SeDididik quality assurance sector acting senior manager Awang Kederi to a representative of Rumah Seliau.
Also present were Penghulu Bansa, Tamin constituency service centre officers Ajan and Dido Saleh, the latter represented Christopher, and longhouse chiefs.
