BETONG: The Betong Social Welfare Office has distributed 4,016 boxes of drinking water to four villages and four schools affected by the current dry spell.

Its officer Uwieng Gimos said the villages and schools were not connected to piped water supply.

“As of April 22, 4,016 boxes or 48,192 bottles of water had been distributed for the use of 5,332 villagers.

“Among the affected areas are Kampung Tuie, Kampung Medang, Rumah Embol Ng Sungai Anak Kabong, Rumah Empaling Jelang Spak, Tuie Sekolah Kebangsaan (SK) Tuie, SK Perpat, SK St Barnabas and SK St Peter,” he said when contacted yesterday.

He also commended the villagers who had helped to distribute the drinking water.
