MUKAH: Registration of new students for the 2020 December session for the 2021 March intake at Politeknik Mukah (PMU) here was conducted through a drive-thru on Monday and Tuesday which was in line with the new normal.

For senior students, it will be held on Thursday and Friday (March 4-5).

PMU director Dullah Muluk said both parents and students welcomed the new approach as it was seen as a good move to help halt the spread of Covid-19 infections.

He added it was the first time being done and it seemed to produce faster results as students did not have to wait in long lines to register at their respective hostels. It also helped to avoid both students and parents from getting together like what had happened previously.

“It is also in compliance with the standard operating procedures (SOP) issued by the higher education ministry and State Disaster Management Committee,” he said when attending the drive-thru registration process at PMU on Monday.

He added that what was important was for everyone to be vigilant at all times as students and parents came from other divisions and districts which were either green, yellow, orange or red zones.

Dullah, therefore, urged the students to always comply with the SOPs by practising the 3W’s (wash, wear a mask, and warn) and avoid the 3C’s (crowded areas, confined places, close conversations).

Deputy directors (Academic and Academic Support respectively) Mohd Sani Said and Iskandar Reduan also attended the event.
